Welcome to Merauderweb

More Writings, and a possible section rename.

Looking back on past efforts in this section, writing more might not seem like a good idea. I used to love writing, and I used to be quite good at it too, got published a little, and liked the feeling. I just never managed to keep it up. The past writings on this site have been sort of mediocre. The result of something popping into my mind, and me actually being near enough to a computer to actually maintain the enthusiasm to write it down. Most of my ideas come at weird times, while driving, out at night, in the shower, and by the time I get back to the computer and make a start on it, I've forgotten most of the good bits that I've already come up with, it disgusts me, and I give up.

I'm hoping that a bit of discipline will solve that. By forcing myself to try and add a piece of writing, no matter how bad, perhaps I'll force myself better retention techniques, or better ways of being able to control the timings of those moments of inspiration. As for subjects, I have no idea. I'm not going to talk too much about MMORPG's, as thats covered in much detail by other friends sites, including the excellent [Planetm00]. Theres so many MMORPGs on the way at the moment, a lot of garbage, but some promising titles on the way, including the much talked about Starwars Galaxies (aka SWG, or to a select few: SWQ). The good people at planetm00 are checking out most of the games as they come about, and "MG5.com" (:D) is of course providing updated info about Starwars Galaxies, so that base is fairly well covered. I'd rather not continue the current trend of only writing when something has pissed me off to an extreme level - so far that seems to be a common occurance in recent writing, but some of that has to be due to almost 3 years of built up frustration with some of the stuff I've encountered in London, (and having a leaving date so near on the horizon only makes it worse for some reason), so I'm not quite sure what that leaves me with.

I could wander the thin line of semi philisophical garbage that the Internet seems perfectly able to produce. I could try to provide some useful input back into the Lotus Notes/Domino community, but I think thats being done many places at the moment, by sites such as the excellent [Codestore] and [Notestips.com] (I am thinking about expanding the scope of my own online Notes/Domino Knowledgebase, the [LNK], but again, not sure it would offer above whats already about). Tales of amusing anecdotes about London related frustrations are getting a bit tired, and I'm about to move home anyway, so thats ruled out most of the stuff I've bothered to get up here in the past.

I'm quite sure that deep down I have a "writing style" and whatever that style is, it will suit some subjects a lot better than others. At the moment its a case of finding enough enthusiasm about something to justify feeling like writing about it as well as doing it. Which in a way is a good test to help me know if I'm actually enjoying something or not (kind of a reference to time spent in DAoC here).

Anyway, expect to see more things pop up in the "rants" section, which will be renamed soon to something more generic, or POSSIBLY content specific if something presents itself. Feel free to comment via the Comments section or via email - its always nice, and somewhat interesting to see who's actually reading this sometimes.
