I'd been dealing with a kind of annoying thing while browsing for some time - links which aren't enclosed in a tags, aka "non clicky links" for the layman. It's quite weird how long it took me to remember that as I was using Firefox, I could probably find an extension to deal with it.. and indeed I could. There's a few out there. Most people who have browsed extensions have probably come across
Linky, and if it's stupid name doesnt put you off then you'll see that it has quite a lot of features, and is quite highly rated. It claimed to do what I wanted, however it quite simply just didn't work. I kept selecting the text link, and telling it to open in a new tab only to be told that I had no link selected. Hmph. Oh well. So I ditched it and went with
Plain Text Links which is doing the job nicely. I'd quite like to know why Linky wasn't working, but I like the fact that Plain Text Links does exactly what I want, no more, no less.
