Welcome to Merauderweb

MSN Messenger Beta, take 2

The last version of this beta lasted about 25 mins with me before I went back to Trillian. It ate up too much screen real estate. They've updated it recently, and it seems a lot better in terms of how much of my monitor it eats up and so I'm still running it at home, while at work I just can't deal with it.

Things which still bug me:

  • Shift + Return does a new line inside the current message. Alt + Return and Ctrl + Return do also. Whats the big deal? Well, if I'm typing quickly, and am finishing a message with ! or ? then it doesn't send it. Very annoying. I could slow down, yes, but I'd rather not thanks.
  • I like to be able to see the contacts list, but NOT have it sitting in my Task bar. If I 'close it down so it's just in my Tasktray, then I can't see the contacts list. If it has the contacts list open, then it sits in the Task bar. I'd like it to behave like Winamp & Trillian do.
  • Flashing message windows bug the hell out of me and they can't be turned off. There are times when I like incoming messages to go straight behind whatever I'm doing, and not flash until they receive attention. I can see the window - I know you're there, I'll get to you when I'm good and ready.

Still, it's a big improvement on the previous beta version. Also, I have more beta invites if anyone is interested.
