OpenNTF Mail Experience 7.0.2a Beta

The 7.0.2 release of the OpenNTF Mail Experience is out. The OpenNTF Mail template provides increased functionality and configurability over the default mail template, however my main criticism is that the UI has always looked like complete arse. That's still the case with this release. It seems that some people have differing opinions, however those people seem to think that a "Web 2.0 UI" means stealing a few colours from Flickr's colour palette. Interesting.

The normal response from the Notes/Domino community here would be "lets see you do something better", and that's fair enough. Unfortunately, I don't have time to do so, but what I will say is this: I've seen some pretty amazing Domino UI work recently. A friend of mine has done some work around a great looking and incredibly functional Document Library, that really is head and shoulders above anything else out there. As far as I'm concerned it set's the standard in terms of how to make Notes Client applications look appealing to users. We talked about collaborating and doing some work on the mail template to make something which looks really nice, however we both decided that neither of us have the time or the desire to do this (and anyway, "Hannover" is going to fix all this, right?). However, after looking at this new template I have to admit, I'm getting very tempted to float the idea of this to him again, because I know that the two of us could come up with something that you'd all totally love.
